Esthefany Rodríguez Ramírez has what it takes for VAM® Field Service (VFS) at Vallourec Oil and Gas México— dedication, hard work, and a lot of grit. Being a woman in the field can make it even more complex with the challenge of demanding environments and the unpredictability of extended stays on oil rigs.
However, these challenges have only fueled her passion for new experiences and her drive to excel. She is proud of her ability to adapt and thrive in demanding environments, which proves her strength and capabilities.
Never Giving Up
Esthefany grew up in Cárdenas Tabasco, the youngest of seven siblings. Her childhood was marked by the warmth and camaraderie of a large family, filled with dreams of travel to distant to far-off cities and countries.
Although a graduate in geophysical engineering, it proved difficult for Esthefany to find a job after university, as many companies preferred more experienced candidates. Undeterred, she spent two years learning English and focusing on gaining relevant experience in the oil and gas industry. Her perseverance was rewarded when Vallourec offered her a job, a moment she remembers with pride.
An in-depth knowledge of drilling operations
Esthefany is currently working for VAM® Field Services, supervising the installation and optimal use of VAM TOP® and VAM SLIJ II® connections in well production rigs. It also involves providing the appropriate recommendations to ensure optimal use and service life of these connections. Her role requires an in-depth knowledge of drilling operations, to which she devotes most of her time, which has enabled her to continually improve her knowledge and expertise in this field.
Esthefany said she finds immense satisfaction in her work at Vallourec. She appreciates the respect and recognition she receives from her colleagues and managers, as well as the company’s international presence, comprehensive benefits and numerous career development opportunities, and the chance to be herself.
Breaking down stereotypes
Breaking down stereotypes and showing that a woman can also excel in the field, is one of Esthefany’s proudest achievements. She values her ability to balance her professional and personal life, finding joy and satisfaction in both. Reflecting on her career path, she is grateful for the support of her family and the significant influence of her parents: her mother, whose hard work and determination to pursue her studies left a lasting impression, and her father, who worked alone in the United States to ensure his family’s well-being.

Her journey from a small town in Tabasco to becoming a respected professional at Vallourec is an inspiration to all, showcasing the power of hard work and the importance of seizing opportunities.
