Multi-million equipment investment in pipe straigtner improves throughput and production time.

The 31 year old Sheldon Road straightener in Houston was recently replaced, promising to improve quality and capabilities, accommodating large pipe sizes. It’s been years in the making, but the new is now installed and operational.

Retiring its obsolete predecessor, the $5 million capital investment to purchase and install a new straightener is proving its value with improved quality through fewer thread rejects and faster deliveries due to improved production time.

The automated system allows for setups to be saved and duplicated. This ensures product is straightened with the lowest ovality and improved end hook, which improves thread rejects. Improved setup time from 30 minutes to 10 minutes provides increased throughput capabilities with faster production time.

The new Fives Bronx 6CR11 has size range capability from 4.5″OD to 16″OD, max 1.00″ wall, and 156 pounds per foot with lengths up to 48 feet.
